Ready to Drool? Koreanized Burgers at bopNgrill

via Glut with Guts

Commence drooling now. The kimchi fries were a perfectly indulgent snack. Even with the large and hearty portions, I still wanted more! Read more about the kimchi fries and deliciously reinvented burgers at the Chicagoist.

Braille Burgers

Ok, while I might not be the biggest fan of fast food, or chain restaurants, this marketing campaign wow-ed me. Wimpy Burgers, a South African chain, offers a braille menu at every one of their locations. To promote this unique feature, they baked sesame buns with braille messages for their test audience to try.

If anything, watch for the happy expressions of the readers :D

Two Weeks Later...

Who out there is still sticking to their resolutions? Since I didn't exactly make year-long resolutions, I'd say I'm doing pretty well.

Gimme More! Pozole!

Did you know, there is only ONE pozoleria in Chicago? Yes, they have other items (flautas and tortas galore!), but the star of their menu is the pozole. And not just any kind, three different kinds: roja, verde, blanca--each representing a color of the Mexican flag! Read more about it at the Chicagoist!

Random Search Terms

Like a good blogger should, I check the analytics for ole' glut with guts here. I'm always surprised to see my little blog's global reach (привет, Russia! Hallo, Germany!) and the interesting referral sources. But I was not prepared to see this today:

New Year, New Goals

Every year I make the same new year resolution--to become a generally "nicer" person. This. never. pans. out. I was born "MEAN-a" for a reason. Just kidding (but not really)!

In the tail end of 2011, I turned [GASP--because it's still hard to come to terms with] 25 years old. A quarter century past with little known accomplishments to account for (a feeling likened to watching the Olympics with a tub of ice cream sobbing and wailing "i'm such a failure!"--ok, slightly melodramatic).

Bringing it back home, instead of making a one-year resolution, I've decided to make a bucket list of sorts. Things I'm actively progressing towards achieving before I turn 30 years old. Five years to finish at least five big goals? Doable, I'm hoping. Here goes:

1. Purchase a condo.
My savings account is slowly inching towards a hefty down payment (no help to online shopping). I'm determined to convert my condo-lusting into condo-shopping.
...
2. Big trip.
I can't believe it's been nearly 3 and a half years since my last time abroad! I've traveled across the States over the past few months, but it'd be lovely to be able to go oversees at least once more before I turn 30. Maybe hiking through the Turkish countryside? Or biking through the Dutch landscape? Or seeing la vida maravillosa of a South American country?
...
3. Sommelier certification.
As a relative foodie and a big ole wine drunk, getting sommelier certified is something I would love to accomplish. I don't know if I would ever have the commitment or drive to become a master sommelier, but just to receive the first level of certification would be grand.
...
4. Masters completed.
I am such a slacker. All the resources I need for this are laid out in front of me and I STILL drag my feet! I'm hoping to get this done by 2013; difficult but doable!
...
5. Lose at least 4 dress sizes.
I'm tired of being tubby and chubby!
...
6. Novel.
More specifically, to partake in NANOWRIMO. Topic? Still TBD, but I've always wanted to say that I've written a novel: even if it's only a few measly pages long.

Read, I Resolute
Now let's hope I follow through.
