Fatty Friday!

Happy Friday for my fatty foods loving friends! (or am I the only one?)

When I first headed here, I'll admit I was nervous. I'm very much not a food snob, but the combination of "seafood" in Chicago at such reasonable prices coupled with a kind of non-descript store front had me on the fence whether or not to check it out. I'm SO GLAD I DID. It's fried seafood heaven (although their shrimp cocktail is no laughing matter), which is why after my massive meal here, I should probably ward off of deep fried anything for a while.

After ordering and getting my food in a snappy speed, I had to keep telling myself, "don't snack, don't snack, don't snack, photos to be taken, photos to be taken, photos to be taken..." It was hard. Especially when I saw/smelled THESE GUYS:

First of all, I was like, "what's a hush puppy?" and "Why do Americans name things this way... hot dog, hush puppy?" All that aside, these things are golden (literally and figuratively) and taste di-vine. It gets better--it comes with homemade honey butter. DROOL.

Hushpuppies are named because they were the leftover bits of batter fried up and thrown to the children and dogs to quiet their begging, "Hush puppy." :)
